Area Overview
Zografou is a suburb in the eastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. The area, being close to the centre of Athens, developed similar urban sprawl characteristics, with high-rise buildings of even 10 stories tall being the norm. The city is also home to the Athens university campus and polytechnical school campus and therefore, a great part of its population is university students.
Zografou’s public transportation is served by a number of bus lines. At summer of 2029, Zografou will have 3 metro stations at Ilissia, Zografou (Gardenia Place) and Goudi.
the University of Athens is a public university. It has been in continuous operation since its establishment in 1837 and is the oldest higher education institution of the modern Greek state. Today it is one of the largest universities by enrollment in Europe, with over 69,000 registered students.
